Body Camera Memory Cards: Speed, Loop Recording and Backup
A memory card must be compatible, fast enough for the selected recording mode and managed before important footage is overwritten. A larger number on the package does not solve all three requirements.
This guide covers Bextgoo body and action cameras, with a simple routine for saving clips from loop recording. It is useful before a first trip and when replacing the supplied card.
Start with the exact model's card limit

An SD adapter changes the physical connection to a reader; it does not make an unsupported capacity or card standard compatible with a camera. Check the supplied manual or model support before buying a replacement.

Capacity, speed and endurance answer different questions
Capacity describes how much data can fit. Recording hours depend on actual file size, bitrate and recording activity. Two cameras with 64GB cards can retain very different amounts of time.
Speed class describes specified minimum writing performance under defined conditions. For example, the SD Association lists Class 10 and U1 at 10 MB/s, and U3 and V30 at 30 MB/s. These are different class systems: match the symbols and requirements in the camera instructions rather than assuming equal numbers guarantee identical compatibility. Endurance concerns repeated writing over time. If your camera will repeatedly overwrite footage, ask about a compatible card intended for that workload. Speed alone is not an endurance rating, and a premium card cannot remove a camera's capacity or format restrictions.
Loop recording keeps going by replacing older footage
Loop recording is useful when you want the camera to continue saving new clips as the card fills. Its trade-off is retention: older recordings can disappear. Where a model offers file protection, learn exactly what it protects and whether protected files can eventually fill the card. Do not assume every Bextgoo model has the same lock function.
For a trip, decide when you will copy files before you start. If a clip is important, stop the recording safely and save it promptly. Continuing to record while hoping to retrieve an older clip later increases the chance it will be overwritten.
A backup routine you can verify
- Finish the recording normally. Use the camera's stop or shutdown procedure and allow it to finish saving. Avoid removing the card during a write.
- Use a supported transfer method. The L9 listing describes a USB connection or card reader. The M11 lists WiFi app transfer. Follow the exact model instructions.
- Copy the original files. Use a dated folder with a useful name, such as “Trip-day-1.” Preserve the original filenames within it.
- Open the copies. Check the beginning, middle and end of a clip, and listen to audio if audio matters. A filename in a folder does not prove a complete, playable transfer.
- Keep another copy of important footage. Choose a separate device or a trusted backup location. Only then clear or reuse the card as appropriate.
Test the workflow before the important recording
Record a short clip, retrieve it, play it on your intended device and verify its time and date. Then repeat with a longer sample in your planned recording mode. This checks the full workflow before a holiday or other event that cannot be repeated.
If you use a USB cable, make sure it supports data as well as charging. If a computer asks to format a card containing footage you need, do not accept immediately: formatting can remove access to those files. Stop writing to the card and seek model-specific support or recovery advice if the footage is important.
If recording stops or a clip will not play
Separate three questions: did the camera create a file, did the transfer complete, and can the playback device decode it? Test a copied file with a compatible player; do not repeatedly reformat the source as a first step. Note the model, card details, recording mode, error message and whether another reader sees the files.
