I used to use a different model for my bicycle commute, but the image quality was abysmal—typical of cheap devices—so I jumped at this one because of its 1080p capability. I attach it to my backpack strap while commuting, and I was relieved to find the footage quite clear when I checked it at home. By "clear," I mean not just the scenery, but also details like license plates and faces, which are captured sharply without blocky compression artifacts. This was the most important factor for me. It has a 120-degree field of view, so it captures a wide area. Since the lens angle can be rotated fully, it can be used as an action camera for activities like snowboarding or hiking, not just as a dashcam. You could also lay it flat to record training sessions or meetings; it would likely capture text written on a whiteboard, too. As for the battery, a single full charge easily handles my round-trip commute (about 45 minutes each way) with barely any drain; I feel like it could last for about half a day. I offload the data roughly every three days; once the storage fills up, the oldest files are deleted first, so you should save any important footage separately—otherwise, you might accidentally lose it. The controls are responsive during recording, and the one-touch start/stop function is convenient. On the flip side, it keeps recording relentlessly unless you stop it, so you have to be careful not to forget to turn it off. As mentioned earlier, the fact that old files get deleted automatically poses a risk. I haven't had a chance to test the motion detection mode, though it does react if I wave my hand in front of the lens. I actually dropped it once while riding my bike, but it continued to work without issues. While it depends on how it lands, it seems to have decent durability.
It records in high quality. With features like night vision and motion detection, it is perfect for security purposes. I also found the ease of installation appealing.
I was looking for a compact camera, so I decided to buy this one. It turned out to be even smaller than I expected—fitting right into my pocket—which was exactly the size I wanted. First of all, the angle of view is relatively narrow; it is not a wide-angle lens. If you try to hold it in your hand while concealing it, the subject easily drifts out of the frame—either vertically or horizontally. You can keep the subject in the frame if you aim by holding the camera directly in front of your eyes, but you need to be careful when shooting covertly, as it is easy to miss the shot. (You do get better at framing the subject while shooting covertly as you get used to it.) Also, since the camera angle is adjustable, it sometimes shifts without you realizing it; I’ve had instances where I played back the footage only to find I had filmed nothing but the area above the subject, missing the important parts. Additionally, there are three slide switches on the right side (when the camera is facing the subject): infrared, video recording, and microphone (voice recorder). There were times when I thought I was recording video but had accidentally switched on the microphone instead, resulting in a recording with no visuals. Therefore, you need to double-check the camera angle and the three slide switches right before you start recording. There is also a power button on the left side; it is a spring-loaded slide switch that must be held in the "up" position for about two seconds to turn the device on. You cannot simply power it up and snap a picture of something instantly; there is a slight delay. Don't expect smartphone-level image quality. It has the typical look of a spy camera, though it isn't terrible. Considering it is a spy camera, the quality is actually quite decent—good enough to capture evidence. Continuous recording time seems to fall short of seven hours; I haven't measured it precisely, but two or three hours is likely the limit. Consequently, it isn't suitable for long-term recording where the camera is left unattended. Finally, regarding the included cable for connecting to a PC, the Type-A connector (the end that plugs into the computer) often has a poor connection. It often takes multiple attempts before the device is recognized. Recordings are saved in 5-minute segments, and downloading a full 5-minute clip to a computer takes a fair amount of time; consequently, downloading a large batch of footage takes quite a while. The camera unit itself feels cheap and plastic—it lacks any sense of substantial, high-end quality and feels almost like a toy. It comes with a clip for attaching to a pocket, but you can also place it on a flat surface with the clip facing down to record. Despite the many downsides I've listed, I think it is an excellent hidden camera. It’s very handy. I’m planning to buy a spare, and I’d likely choose this same model again. It may feel cheap, but I haven't had any malfunctions so far.
